Hallo dear readers,
Today we will look at five quotes from Plutarch.
Let's dive in :)
“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”
-Plutarch
“I don't need a friend who changes when I change and who nods when I nod; my shadow does that much better.”
-Plutarch
“Know how to listen, and you will profit even from those who talk badly.”
-Plutarch
“To find fault is easy; to do better may be difficult.”
-Plutarch
“The whole of life is but a moment of time. It is our duty, therefore to use it, not to misuse it.”
-Plutarch
Three facts about Plutarch:
-Plutarch was born around 46 CE in the town of Chaeronea in Boeotia, central Greece. He came from a well-off and educated family, which gave him access to philosophical and rhetorical training.
-He is best known for two major collections: Parallel Lives, a series of paired biographies of Greek and Roman figures, and Moralia, a compilation of essays on ethics, religion, politics, and philosophy.
-During his lifetime, likely under Emperor Trajan, Plutarch was granted Roman citizenship and took the name Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus, after his Roman patron.
